Soufflet Malt unveils clean-label malt innovation for low and no alcohol drinks

Soufflet Malt, the world’s leading maltster, is set to spotlight a new generation of malt-based ingredients at Food Ingredients Europe (Paris, 2–4 December), with a strong focus on solutions for the booming low and no alcohol drinks market.

At the heart of its showcase is a breakthrough malt concentrate made from just malt and water – an ingredient that’s as simple as it is powerful. Naturally sweet and clean-label, the concentrate offers a versatile base for brands developing better-for-you sodas, mocktails, energy drinks, iced teas, and premium low and no alcohol beverages. Its neutral profile and functional richness allow for seamless customisation, enabling formulators to build depth, mouthfeel, and balance without relying on artificial additives or sweeteners.

“This is a game-changer for the low and no alcohol space,” said Laurent Debande, chief growth and innovation officer at Soufflet Malt. “Taste comes first, and this ingredient delivers – while also meeting the growing demand for natural, sustainable, and label-friendly solutions.”

The malt concentrate is part of a wider portfolio of patented innovations being presented at the show, including a roasted, caffeine-free malt beverage for hot drinks and a cocoa replacer that mimics the taste and texture of chocolate while using 15 times less water. These solutions reflect Soufflet Malt’s MALTiply 2030 strategy, which aims to expand malt’s role beyond brewing and distilling into everyday food and drink applications.

Also on display will be next-generation malt rootlet ingredients with functional health benefits, and new sugar-reduction options using caramel and malt-based syrups.

With its deep expertise in germination and fermentation, Soufflet Malt is positioning itself as a key partner for brands looking to innovate in the fast-growing low and no alcohol category – without compromising on taste, texture, or sustainability.

Visitors can explore these innovations at Stand 73D39 at Food Ingredients Europe.
