Silk targets protein drink boom with 13g protein plant‑based milk

Silk, the leading US plant‑based beverage brand, has introduced Silk Protein, a new refrigerated plant‑based milk formulated to deliver 13g of complete protein per serving – more than any other refrigerated plant‑based beverage currently available.

The launch targets consumers seeking convenient, nutrient‑dense alternatives to protein powders and dairy‑based shakes.

"Silk continues to lead the plant-based beverage category with innovative options that meet evolving consumer needs. Protein is here to stay, yet convenient, great-tasting plant-based choices have been limited – until now," said Kallie Goodwin, senior vice president of plant-based beverages, Danone US. "Our new Silk Protein not only delivers the protein consumers crave but also offers added benefits like fibre, calcium, and less sugar to support balanced nutrition."

Rolling out nationwide, Silk Protein is designed to meet rising demand for functional drinks that combine high protein with clean‑label credentials. The beverage contains all nine essential amino acids, 50% less sugar than regular dairy milk, 3g of fibre, and added calcium and vitamin D, with no artificial sweeteners.

Danone North America, which owns Silk, says the innovation fills a clear gap in the category: consumers want protein‑rich options that are ready to drink, nutritionally complete and plant‑based – but most existing products either fall short on protein content or rely on powders and supplements.

The new line launches in multiple flavours and formats, with Silk positioning it as a versatile option for breakfast, post‑workout recovery or everyday use.
