Highlighting the intersection of "clean eating" and permissible indulgence, chocolate specialist Herza Schokolade has announced the launch of two new organic product lines ahead of Biofach 2026.
The new "Magic Matcha" and "Date Edition" series are designed specifically for manufacturers in the snack, muesli, and ice cream sectors looking to align with 2026’s dominant "holistic wellbeing" trends. By combining functional superfoods with natural alternatives to refined sugar, HERZA is targeting a consumer base that increasingly views confectionery as a vehicle for wellness.
Tapping into the viral popularity of Japanese tea culture on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, the Magic Matcha series features six organic white chocolate variations infused with high-quality matcha powder.
Beyond its striking green aesthetic, the range leverages the functional benefits associated with matcha, including the stress-reducing properties of L-theanine and the antioxidant effects of EGCG. The lineup includes:
• Fruity infusions: matcha pieces refined with lime or blueberry powder for a fresh, visual contrast.
• Flavour fusions: marbled combinations including "Matcha & Dark Mocha" and an organic "Pumpkin Spice Latte" reinterpretation.
• Textural variety: options ranging from large arched chips to double leaves, providing distinct mouthfeel for different applications.
In response to the intensifying "anti-sugar" sentiment and the demand for plant-based nutrition, Herza’s Date Edition replaces refined sugar with the natural sweetness of dates.
Dates are increasingly favoured by food technologists for their high fibre content, essential minerals, and secondary phytochemicals. The range includes specialised inclusions such as:
• Date White Chocolate: featuring sea salt, coconut, or strawberry and matcha blends.
• Semisweet Variations: darker chips infused with fruity orange notes.
• Texture-Plus: milk chocolate date pieces containing rice crispies for added crunch in cereal and dairy applications.
A key technical differentiator for Herza is its proprietary cutting process. Unlike uniform, moulded drops, HERZA produces irregularly cut pieces ranging from 2mm to 10mm. This provides industrial manufacturers with a "handmade" or "artisanal" look for mass-produced items – a visual cue that signals quality and authenticity to the end-consumer.
These inclusions are engineered for stability across temperature-sensitive applications, ensuring the "crunchy bite" remains effective in frozen ice cream or baked goods.
Herza will be exhibiting at the shared booth of the State of Schleswig-Holstein (Stand 9-335C).
