Borough Broth Company, the British organic bone broth brand, has successfully secured a £7.5 million investment from Piper, a leading consumer specialist investor. This funding marks the company’s first institutional investment and is set to fuel its next phase of sustainable growth, with a mission to make nutrient-rich, convenient food mainstream.
Founded in 2015 by Ros Heathcote with just £6,000, Borough Broth has grown into one of the UK’s fastest-growing organic, B Corp-certified brands, achieving an annualised revenue of circa £11 million with forecasts to exceed £20 million in 2026.
The capital injection from Piper will be strategically deployed to significantly scale the business and expand its product offering. This includes relocating to a new West London manufacturing facility that will more than double the current production capacity, driving continued innovation across new organic categories adjacent to broth, such as soups, stocks, and gravies, and bolstering the senior leadership team to support rapid scale-up.
Rory Gibbs, Partner at Piper, commented: “Borough Broth is perfectly positioned at the intersection of taste, health, sustainability and convenience. We see huge potential to grow Borough Broth into a household name, one that leads the conversation around healthy, nourishing and sustainable eating.”
Borough Broth's rapid ascent is built on a purpose-led business model centred on the circular economy. The company began by reclaiming high-quality bones from the meat industry – ingredients that would otherwise be wasted or used for pet food – and transforming them through a 24-hour slow-cooked process into deeply nourishing, organic bone broth.
The versatility of the product taps into several key consumer demands for healthy and convenient meal solutions across the day. Among Borough Broth customers, 57% primarily use it as a cooking ingredient (adding flavour to soups, sauces, stews, rice dishes and roasts), 24% drink it as a hot and comforting health beverage, and 19% consume it for its functional benefits (gut health, immune support). Ros Heathcote,
Founder and CEO of Borough Broth Company, highlighted the partnership’s alignment with their values: “We have built Borough Broth with great care and discipline... Partnering with Piper means we can bring that mission to even more people. Piper invests in purposeful brands and their shared values genuinely matter to us.”
The brand's commitment to quality and sustainability is reflected in its recent retail success, having secured national listings in Sainsbury’s and Tesco over the last twelve months, adding to its established presence in Ocado and Waitrose.
